Empties #1

Empties #1 // Maddie's Beauty Spot

Welcome to my first Empties post! I’ve been a regular lurker in the makeup subreddit “Makeup Rehab”  for the last few months, and one thing I’ve loved reading are the empties posts, as you get a real review since someone has finished the product. I also want to make an effort to finish full-size and sample products more before buying more products.

Josie Maran Argan Milk: I received this sample in an order or something, and thought it would be great for my skin as it’s combination however it just made it super oily the night I used it and the next day. It does feel like an oil, however with a milky white colour and a runny texture. I’ve heard great things about this product and it’s definitely becoming a cult product across YouTube. I will not be repurchasing however.

Urban Decay Priming Potion in Anti-Aging: I have a billion samples of each priming potion since each Naked palette came with one, I’m trying to use them all up as I have a deluxe sample to use once I get through them all. This particular kind has been discontinued but the original still lives. I do like them, so I may repurchase the original once I get through all of these samples!

Sephora Green Tea Sheet mask: I picked up this mask in Singapore, and I’m still getting used to Sheet Masks. This had a cooling and jelly kind of feel to it, and I find Sephora’s a bit big for my face. I probably won’t repurchase this as I didn’t find a difference in my skin at all, and I have a fair few sheet masks in my collection to work through now.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer sample: This is my second sample and I should probably just buy one already since they’re not expensive for the travel size. I do like how this primer feels like a liquid then turns to an almost powder like formula once it’s blended in and drying. I don’t find a huge difference with this primer, however, I also mainly use my Estee Lauder Double Wear in Summer since everything else melts off so it’s difficult to tell. When the weather is a bit cooler it will be easier to tell if it really works for me, with a foundation such as Nars Sheer Glow. Will likely repurchase.

Bic Soleil Twilight Razors: I never thought of including these in an empties since these have been my favourite razors for about 5 or 6 years, they have a great softening strips on them and cut very finely. I don’t find I ever cut myself with them, and I usually just buy a few packets when they’re on special for $3.50. Will always repurchase.

Keune Salt Mist: My mum, the hairdresser, gave me this salt spray a few years ago, but to me it’s not really anything special. I much prefer my salt spray by Toni & Guy which I can buy anywhere. Will not repurchase.

MOR Marshmellow Body Moisturiser: This is my favourite moisturiser of all time and I have already purchased and used a new one. I find a bottle of this lasts me ages, almost a year using it everyday on my legs and elbows. I generally buy a new one in the boxing day sales at Myer each year. I bought a hand cream in this scent as well this year!

Maybelline Master Precise: I love this eyeliner, it’s my favourite eyeliner of all time. I repurchased two more of these in the most recent Priceline 40% off Sale. This eyeliner is cheap, stays black, and the felt tip doesn’t feather. I’ve tried the Hyper Sharp eyeliner, and it’s also great – not as good to me as Master Precise however!

Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer in Custard: I initially thought this was the wrong shade for me, being too yellow and dark. I have since loved the concealer and burned through it! I have heard that cutting the stopper off will allow me access to some extra product at the bottom so I will do that to get the last of it. While I have a lot of concealers to get through at the moment (roughly 5 or 6) I will be repurchasing for sure! This concealer stays put, is creamy enough for my under eyes, and I like the applicator.

That’s my empties for the year so far! What have you burnt through lately? See any favourites or dud’s?
