Life Lately: September

Life Lately: September

In contrast to last month, September has flown by! By the time you read this I’ll either be on a flight to my holiday or on an island. We’re off to Singapore and Indonesia at the end of the month for a bit over a week, into October.┬áThis month at work we’ve had loads of events and that’s probably in part why it’s gone so fast!

Shopping

I’ve been a bit spendy this month, both at the Mecca reopening at Wintergarden (super close to my work… always a safe way to be!), and on clothes and home bits and pieces. I’ve been trying a lot of cruelty-free products, especially foundations, and I’ve narrowed it to down to Smashbox, Stila and Too Faced in terms of foundation replacements. I haven’t picked up any yet as I still have plenty in my samples. Instead, I purchased a few other bits and bobs to meet the $85 minimum for the beauty bank. I picked up Stila One Step Correct primer in the mini, the mini Urban Decay mascara, Kate Somerville Exfolikate scrub mini, and the Hourglass Brow Arch. I did, however, pick up a few foundations at Tarte this month, the Rainforest of the Sea foundation and Amazonian Clay power, as well as the blush in Exposed, and the matching brush for the powder. I want to use up more non cruelty-free foundations before I buy any replacements.

In September I also picked up two leather jackets from Portmans as they had a really great sale on, and mine was falling apart after six years. I chose Blush Pink and Black which is exciting!

In terms of home bits and bobs, we bought a new mattress which is exciting, as we’re currently still using our mattress from uni and it is horrible! It should be ready for delivery by the time we get back which will be a relief.

Cruelty-Free Life Changes

I’ve made some advancements in my cruelty-free journey, and have sorted through all of my unopened products and given a lot of them away to my mum, as I didn’t have any urge to use them. I am currently selling a bunch of makeup I was going to declutter anyway, both non and cruelty-free. I am quite tempted to set up a project pan of sorts to get through my non cruelty-free items. I also wrote a post this month, on transitioning to cruelty-free which can be found here. If you’re going cruelty-free, how has your journey been going?

Film and Television

The Bachelor US shows all finished up this month, and the Australian version with Matty J finished up as well. I won a bet at work that Laura was going to win the Australian version so I was pretty chuffed about that! Sophie Monk’s Bachelorette season has just started and I was dubious at first, but I have been loving it! Not sure if any of them are right for her, but time will tell. Some are just so young, they are my age!

In our social group we were looking for a television show to watch to replace Game of Thrones in the off season, and we have started Expanse which seems good so far, with two seasons out already.

I have also been rewatching season three of How To Get Away With Murder as season four will be starting while I’m away. I love this show and I’ve been watching it since the beginning, I am keen to know what will happen to Laurel and the baby, and the revelation that Laurel’s dad hired a hitman to kill Wes!

  • It is always nice to know what new things are going on in fellow bloggers life. The shopping sounds so amazing, would love to see the blush pink leather jacket, sounds so good. The will check the youtubers you mentioned.

  • I hope you’re having a great time in Singapore and Indonesia, lovely! I can’t wait to see all that you bought on your holiday. My family and I went on holiday to Hong Kong and China back in 2014 and I specifically asked if we could stop over in Singapore just so I could go to Sephora, lmao. Orchard Road is amazing and I hope I can go back again one day.

I haven’t bought any new makeup since June/July, which is madness, but I’ve added quite a few new skincare bits into my routine, which has more than made up for my beauty shopping. I got a Mecca gift card for my birthday though and I’m looking forward to spending it! I’ll probably get the Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Achiever and maybe a Diptyque candle too. I’ve also been purchasing quite a few new clothes ready for the spring/summer season. Some of my basics needed replacing and I also got my 20% off The Iconic birthday voucher, which I’m making sure I put into use! I haven’t bought new clothes in such a long time, so my wardrobe needs some mixing up!

Tarte’s Exposed Blush is simply beautiful and is the kind of shade I love reaching for everyday as it goes with literally any makeup look I wear. You’ll love it! I’d say the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil is my favourite eyebrow product, I even prefer it over Anastasia Brow Wiz since it’s quicker and easier to fill in your brows with. The spoolie on the end is really soft and lovely to use too.
