New In: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and Concealer

New In: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and Concealer

I’ve been a long time wearer of Estee Lauder Double Wear over the years and go through about one bottle a year. I’ve been wanting to try the matching concealer pot since Anna from The Anna Edit has been raving about it recently! I’m a huge fan of Anna’s channel and since we are similar skin types and tones, I take her advice pretty seriously!

Luckily, the concealer has not been a disappointment in the slightest! I purchased this in 1C Light Cool and it matches me perfectly. This is the Double Wear Stay-in-Place High Cover Concealer SPF 30+ concealer, and we have fewer shades available in Australia (as with 99% of makeup available in Australia) than overseas.

Concealer Notes:

This concealer is best applied by gently swirling your ring finger in the pot and dabbing this gently under your eye. I would personally suggest blending as you go on this one, as with the foundation, it dries quite quickly. I do set this concealer with the lightest highlight colour in the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette with the Real Techniques setting brush but this can obviously look powdery. If I don’t, it still stays on very well and does not have the powdery effect, but rather, a glowing skin effect. I find I get an entire day (10 hours +) of coverage from this, which is more than NARS and Urban Decay, but the same as MAC.

Foundation Notes:

This foundation is pretty renowned for being long lasting, and more suited to oily skin types. Personally, I have combination skin (oily forehead and chin, dry nose and around the mouth, normal cheeks) and this works for me. I apply this with a Beauty Blender to help sheer it out, and also to give it more of a dewy effect when applying. To prime before applying, I only wear Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum as it acts as an additional serum in my routine and gives an amazing glowing and fresh skin whilst wearing a pretty mattifying foundation. I get a full day’s wear of this too (like over 15 hours).

Gift With Purchase

I always time my Estee Lauder purchases in time for their annual Gift With Purchase presents. Before I was super interested in makeup, almost my entire collection was from GWP from my mum. This time I received a few skincare items I am super interested in trying out like the Advanced Night Repair and the Day Cream moisturiser, as well as some makeup items and a perfume.

I am also a long time fan of Double Wear, it easily one of the best long lasting foundations I own! I’ve also been interested in that concealer since seeing it on Anna’s blog! It sounds amazing!!! That GWP is so cute, too! xx

  • I have been loving the Double Wear foundation since they expanded the shade range and I can actually use it but I definitely agree that it sets quickly. I have never tried the concealer but after reading this I might have to 🙂

  • I’ve not tried any makeup from Estee Lauder before, I usually find cream concealers to sit under my eyes badly but it would be nice to try this one. Where are your cute notebooks from?!

  • I love Anna too! The little minis are so cute x

  • I moved away from using Double Wear foundation a couple years ago – more to do with wanting a sheer coverage. I do love a good concealer though! I’ll need to swing by a counter and test this out. P.S. the Advanced Night Repair is AMAZING! I also love the eye cream in that range.

I will have to try their Double Wear foundation, it sounds perfect for my skin type.

  • I can’t say I’ve tried much at all from the brand apart from a few eyeshadows. I really need to try some of the base products because they all have such a cult following!

  • Australia is so bad at giving out gift with purchases! At Sephora in North America they get samples with every online order but Australia is so behind with that. Mecca gives sachet samples and their beauty loop boxes but it’s still not quite there. I remember when Estee Lauder and Lancome, etc were the only brands that did them and they’d always have a bunch of minis. Growing up a lot of my makeup came from things like that that my mum gave me as well! But definitely if I wanted to pick up a couple of things from one of those brands that offered a good GWP I’d make sure it was during those times to make the most of it.

I love Double Wear Light but have actually never tried out the original DW, though I do have the DW concealer in a tube with a wand, not the one in the pot like yours. I really like both of the versions I have and am pretty curious about the two you bought just because they actually do last really well on the skin and lots of brands and products make those claims but the products don’t follow through.

I’ve heard endless wonderful things about this foundation! Even though my skin is dry/dehydrated I’ve been wanting to try this foundation out as a spot concealer.

  • I have heard so much about the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation but haven’t even tried it out myself yet! I have dry to normal skin though, so it might not be the best for me, but I hear it’s the perfect foundation for photos and special occasions. Love how you timed the purchase whilst there was a GWP! Currently I’m using the Advanced Night Repair serum and I love the texture and how my skin absorbs it well 🙂

  • I’ve been wanting to try Double Wear for years! I really should just purchase it

  • Beautiful photos Maddie! I’ve always wanted to try this foundation but the very full coverage aspect of it has kept me away. The concealer sounds lovely and I trust Anna’s recommendations x
