Shine Bright Like a Diamond: Highlighter Comparison

Shine Bright Like a Diamond; Highlighter Comparison with Swatches!

Welcome to my highlighter comparison post. I’ve been having a highlighter moment in my beauty collection lately, as you may have seen on Instagram! All of my highlighters are from different brands and are quite different from each other, probably why I’ve purchased them! I’m endeavouring to give a mini review on each as well as show highlighter comparison swatches in this post.

L-R: The Balm Mary Loumanizer, MAC Soft and Gentle, Hourglass Incandescent Electra, Nars Albatross, Australis On Tour Highlight shade

First up, my first highlighter I purchased, like many other beauty beginners, was The Balm’s Mary Loumanizer. I purchased this online (though I can’t remember where!) but you can purchase this from David Jones here in Australia for around $30. It has a great shimmery sheen and is probably one of the most pigmented of my highlighters. I use this sparingly all the time, but a little more at night.

Next up is MAC’s Soft and Gentle I purchased a few weeks ago. I loveee the bronzey colour of this highlighter, and I haven’t played around with it too much but I know it’s easy to go overboard with it for the day.

My Hourglass palette is a fave of mine! I consider the middle shade “Incandscent Light” the main highlighter in this palette, and it has a beautiful subtle sheen and therefore is perfect for everyday wear! You barely notice you’re wearing this shade, and whilst that’s not many people’s goal when wearing highlighter, but I work in a semi-corporate environment and that’s not really appropriate. The other shades in this palette are Dim Light (I use this all over my face everyday), and Radiant Light (sometimes use this as a light bronzer).

The Nars Albatross highlighter is one I’ve heard a lot about but not purchased until recently. It has a gorgeous champagne shimmer but looks white in the pan. Once I first swatched this in store, I kept going back and swatching it the next few times until I walked out with it! I’ve been wearing this over the last week, and experimenting how much to wear on a daily basis.

The only drugstore highlighter I have is the highlight shade in my Australis AC on Tour palette. I’m not overly impressed with this shade, as I feel it’s more peachy than anything else, and not something I’d wear really. I really only have this shade because it’s in the contour palette.
