Travel Makeup Bag – Necessities

How to pack your makeup for travelling! // Maddie's Beauty Spot

I travelled overseas at the start of the year, and this was before I even owned much makeup! Culling now is always a bit harder as I don’t like to part with my stash 🙁

First off, I have this great travel makeup bag from Peter Alexander, which has a hook and seperate compartments. It’s great for travelling with because it can hang up on the door, and your products don’t move around in the bag because it’s secure.

Onto the products!

Foundaton: I pack Nars Sheer Glow Foundation because it has a fantastic glowy finish, which I actually don’t find is very glowy. This foundation has great coverage, but doesn’t always have good staying power, because my skin is combination. I am Deauville in this foundation.

Concealer: I pack Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in either Custard or Vanilla because it works really well with the matching foundation. It works well to blend in well, either with a Beauty Blender, a brush, or my fingers. The applicator also means that it’s travel friendly as it’s not messy at all, and not likely to break as it’s plastic.

Primer: I almost always use my Hourglass No.28 primer serum, which is the small travel friendly size of 8ml. This primer has a pump and a lid, meaning it doesn’t spill anywhere.

Eyebrows: I pack Benefit’s Gimmie Brow which is in a super small tube, perfect for travelling! This brow gel does not harden my brows which I love, and it adds a hint of colour to it’s taming ways.

Eyshadow Primer: Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance is my general go-to shadow primer, although I’ve definitely fallen out of love with it’s watery-ness lately. It’s squeezy tube makes it great for travel.

Mascara: Benefit’s Rollerlash mini size. Enough said, anything mini size I know, always ends up travelling with me! Although I don’t find Rollerlash to particularly work on my lashes because I find them uncurlable. I prefer “They’re Real” mascara.

Powder: I don’t generally take a power with me travelling, but I like taking MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Medium-Dark when I do, which is actually a little too dark for me outside summer, I tend to use this as a bronzer in winter anyway.

Blush/Bronzer: The Nars/Laguna combination are a dream to take away as they’re so compact and travel friendly! You get a great colour on either side, which is not often said!

Eyeshadow: The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is great for everyday looks, as well as night looks with the darker colours. This eyeshadow is also in a sturdy case so it won’t get smashed up like anything else.

Lipsticks: I always like to have a small variety of lipsticks to cover all bases. These include a nude/pink everyday colour; “Plumful”, a red; “Ruby Woo”, and a dark night colour; “Rebel”.

Firstly – I adore your make up bag! We’re planning on getting ourselves a sausage dog soon! I totally agree about Nars Sheer Glow too – it’s the best! And MAC plumful has to be my top 3 favourite lipsticks 🙂
